Felabration Global Cultural Festival

Yíímiiká was selected for two consecutive years — 2023 and 2024 — to design high-profile, narrative-driven textile pieces for the Felabration Global Cultural Festival in Lagos, Nigeria. Felabration is one of Africa's most celebrated arts and music festivals, dedicated to the life and legacy of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the pioneering Afrobeats musician and activist.

The commissioned works translated cultural symbolism and heritage identity into textile form, drawing on Yoruba pattern-making traditions, natural dye processes, and contemporary visual language. Each piece was designed to resonate with the festival's globally diverse audience while remaining deeply rooted in African artistic tradition.

Being selected in two successive years reflects the recognition of Yíímiiká's practice as a distinctive voice in contemporary African textile art — one capable of holding cultural depth and public spectacle in equal measure.
